SENTRY (SN26-01) Van Alarm — Frequently Asked Questions
What is SENTRY?
SENTRY is an independent security alarm system designed to help protect vans, cars and other vehicles against unauthorised entry, tampering and tool theft. It provides an additional layer of security alongside your vehicle’s existing security systems.
What does SENTRY protect against?
SENTRY is designed to detect unauthorised access and suspicious activity around your vehicle. Depending on the SENTRY configuration, this can include door opening, tampering and other security events.
Does SENTRY replace my van’s factory alarm?
No. SENTRY is designed to complement your vehicle’s existing alarm and security systems rather than replace them. Adding SENTRY provides an additional layer of protection.
Will SENTRY work with my van?
Yes. SENTRY is designed for vans, cars and a wide range of other vehicles. Because it operates independently from the vehicle’s factory electrical and security systems, it can be used without integrating into the vehicle’s existing electronics.
Can SENTRY be fitted to a van that already has an alarm?
Yes. SENTRY can be used alongside a factory-fitted or aftermarket alarm system to provide additional security.
Can I install SENTRY myself?
Yes. SENTRY is designed for quick and straightforward user installation and can be fitted in minutes without specialist vehicle integration.
Can SENTRY be installed without modifying my van?
Yes. SENTRY does not need to be connected to the vehicle’s existing wiring, electrical system or factory security systems. This means installation can be carried out without modifying the vehicle’s factory systems.
How is SENTRY armed and disarmed?
SENTRY can be armed and disarmed using the supplied key fobs, making it quick and easy to operate.
What happens if SENTRY is triggered?
When SENTRY detects a security event, it responds according to the system configuration. This may include activating the audible alarm and/or other connected security features.
Will SENTRY drain my vehicle battery?
No. SENTRY has its own power supply and is designed for low power consumption during normal operation. A fully charged SENTRY unit can operate for up to six months on a single charge, depending on usage and configuration.
Will SENTRY trigger false alarms?
SENTRY is designed to minimise false alarms when correctly installed and configured. If you experience repeated false alarms, please contact our technical support team at support@van-alarm.com.
Does SENTRY prevent van or tool theft?
No security system can guarantee that a vehicle or tools will never be stolen. SENTRY is designed to act as a deterrent and provide additional protection against unauthorised access, tampering and other security events.
What should I do if my SENTRY alarm isn't working?
First, check that the SENTRY battery is sufficiently charged and recharge the unit if necessary. If the problem continues, contact our technical support team at support@van-alarm.com.
Can I use SENTRY on multiple vans?
Yes. SENTRY systems can be installed across multiple vehicles. Each vehicle should have its own correctly installed and configured SENTRY units
Can SENTRY be removed if I sell my van?
Yes. SENTRY can be removed and transferred to another vehicle in minutes, allowing you to continue using the system when you change vehicles.
Where can I get SENTRY installed?
SENTRY is designed for user installation and can be fitted in minutes. No specialist vehicle integration is required.
Does SENTRY come with a warranty?
Yes. SENTRY comes with a 12-month manufacturer's warranty. Terms and conditions apply.
